Haunted Socks Shaggy Plot

Uncle Sparky and the Haunted Sock  / Plot Points

Attis introduces Sockington’s Sock Factory and the Socktoberfest celebration; introduces Wash as the 2025 Narrator

Wash narrates

Wash & Clovis are at Sockingtons for Socktoberfest when hauntings begin;

The conservatory door being left open is mentioned as an unusual event, but not considered a part of the other incidents like the portrait of Minerva Highwool, who had quarreled with “poor dear Papa”, who was in fact a crusty old autocrat– so of course the elderly Sockington Sisters assume that the hauntings have some connection with their niece Minerva and her parting with Sockington’s after a disagreement with Poor Dear Papa.

A medium arrives at the same time; Mme Odelia Kravatsky claims to have been sent by “Minerva” (who turns out to be very much alive, and in contact with Miss Frowse and the Aunties)

Her spirit cabinet?

W & C attend a séance at supper and are wholly unimpressed.

They decide to observe the hauntings for themselves; their equipment and knowledge of cryptocrepundology does not cover the incidents that they witness, and so they contact Uncle Sparky.

Uncle Sparky arrives with Dr. Skreemer (H. Batwell Skreemer, aka “Batty”, who went into paranormal psychology rather than academia or aviation, unlike the rest of his family, including Olga Shriekovic, who flew aviation with the Night Witches in WWII).

Batty explains the Squeegee Board (Exbit the board/ squeegee/ interpretation book, - but number 9 Gazpacho is simply that – an order for extra spicy, which is about 95% of the spirit requests, according to Batty

Introduces Batty and Uncle Sparky to Mme Odelia. They note that she is wearing socks and seems to have unusually large feet for an otter.

They all experience the SPIRIT CABINET for the first time, and the Sisters are completely enthralled. Our heroes are disgusted.

Batty and Uncle Sparky and Wash make a trip to the Conestoga to research Sockington’s history, leaving Clovis behind to keep an eye on Mme Odelia and the Sockington Sisters.

They find that the Aunties are on their annual jaunt on a Historic Tour of Hats of Antiquity, leaving an eager young twig of an intern in charge, who chirpily announces that a few weeks ago a Professor Olaf Uttersen had asked for some of those very files, and had apparently dropped the Journals of Minerva Highwool.

THE JOURNALS OF MINERVA HIGHWOOL

Our heroes dash back to Sockington’s, where the place is packed with the friends of the Sisters.

Mme Odelia announces her final seance, and shows off her Spirit Cabinet

Our heroes get to work immediately and there is much sawing and painting.

That evening the seance opens with a grand crowd, and much to Our Heroes surprise, the Aunties are in tow with a buxom and imposing Rat, wearing an equally impressive hat.

It is obvious that Mme Odelia is experiencing some physical reactions, and begins stripping off clothing and veils rapidly, all the while she is experiencing having small creatures tugging at her and yanking at her eyebrows and shrieking - the monkeys become visible just as they pull off the veil revealing "Mme Kravatsky" as the infamous YI Otter, at which Miss Frowse appears, scruffs Otter and drags him away, checking items off on his Permanent Record, which she drags out of her copious bag.

The aunties explain the connection with Miss Frowse, and the little monkeys, now completely visible, go screeching toward a stranger in the crowd, who turns out to be Minerva Highwool, who has returned from her adventures to visit her dear aunts and be reunited with her little monkeys - she had come to the same conclusion about extreme warmth being the key to visibility - and GAZPACHO, made with (of course) Highwool Island, where she has been all this time, researching the flora of the island, and discovering the extremely hot Island Chile Cactus Orchid.
